Selecting Multiple Files

14 Apr

Everyone is aware of old way of selecting files in windows.  If you want to select multiple files in a sequence you need to press and hold Shift Key while selecting or simply click and drag method using mouse.  But what if you want to select some files randomly or that are not in sequence, for this we used to press and hold Ctrl key while selecting the files.

Windows 7 has another easy way for doing this.  This option will place check boxes in front of all the items.  ‘Checking On’ the check boxes will select the files.

 To enable this:

  • Open Windows Explorer.
  • Click on ‘Organize’ button on top left corner. It will open a drop down menu of available options.
  • Select ‘Folder and search options’.  It will open ‘Folder Options’ dialog box.
  • Click on ‘View’ tab.
  • Locate and ‘Check On’ the ‘Use check boxes to select items’ check box.
  • Apply the setting and click OK.
