DND (Do Not Disturb) Registration / Deregistration

To Stop All Calls

To register in Do Not Disturb Registry, follow either of the following:

  1. Send SMSSTART 0’ to 1909  or
  2. Call 1909 and follow the instructions.

Stop Calls by Category

To register in Do Not Disturb Registry, follow either of the following:

  1. Send SMS START x’ to 1909, where x is the category number  or
  2. Call 1909 and follow the instructions.

Following is a list of Category numbers:

  1. Banking/Insurance/Financial Products/Credit Cards
  2. Real Estate
  3. Education
  4. Health
  5. Consumer Goods ad Automobiles
  6. Communication/Broadcasting/Entertainment/IT
  7. Tourism and Leisure

To Allow All Calls

To register in Do Not Disturb Registry, follow either of the following:

  1. Send SMS STOP 0’ to 1909  or
  2. Call 1909 and follow the instructions.

Allow Calls by Category

To register in Do Not Disturb Registry, follow either of the following:

  1. Send SMS START x’ (yes START) to 1909, where x is the category number  or
  2. Call 1909 and follow the instructions.

Following is a list of Category numbers:

  1. Banking/Insurance/Financial Products/Credit Cards
  2. Real Estate
  3. Education
  4. Health
  5. Consumer Goods ad Automobiles
  6. Communication/Broadcasting/Entertainment/IT
  7. Tourism and Leisure

Check the Registration Status

The following link may be used to check your mobile number’s registration status:

Alternatively, you may also call 1909 to check the registration status.

Where To Complain

If you are sure that you have registered in DND Registry but still getting Unsolicited Commercial SMSs or calls, you may complain by calling 1909 or sending the following SMS to 1909:

“the unsolicited commercial communication; XXXXXXXXXX; dd/mm/yy; hh:mm; short description” to 1909. Where XXXXXXXXXX – is the telephone number or header of the SMS, from which the UCC has originated.  The telephone number or header and the date of receipt of the unsolicited commercial SMS may be appended with such SMS.

Example to above is: Comp Tel No 9810000000; 02/03/2013; 09:28; XYZ Bank about Credit Cards

Identifying SMS Sender

Only transactional SMSs are allowed to be sent with a name identifying the sender.  All other promotional messages will have a numeric Id identifying the sender.

Provide and Region Codes

If you have got a SMS having header as MD-HDFCSL that means this message is from HDFC and sent to MTNL Delhi.
